I'm running F@H, and have been for a while, when I found out about TeamMacnn. Have put team number 16 in my client but am not appearing in the statistics - do they only update after I've finshed a unit? Cos this one is taking forever!

Yeah, you won't appear on the stats until you finish a unit and the stats machine grabs the new codes. If you aren't on there 24 hours after you complete a unit, then it's time to worry.

Welcome to the team!

What are your machine's specs? It'll help form a rough guestimate of how fast you should be able to complete units.

I've got a 1GHz TiBook with 512MB RAM. It has been processing units far faster but this one: p639_L939_K12M is taking forever - only 23% done after a week!

That's a Tinker work unit. They are slower on the Macs. It is also worth 70.9 points, so when it does complete, it will be worth a lot. I think it has a 50 day expiration, so no problem of it expiring on you.

That WU will take quite a while. Just be patient.
Make sure you are launching your client with the '-advmethods' switch, it'll usually grab you faster WU. Over the last week there have been many tinkers, for two reasons. First, they finished some of the faster gromacs projects, so the tinker projects are a higher percentage of distributed WUs. Second, they've found some interesting results on some of the tinker projects, and want to get those WU crunched.

Fair enough. I've been using the graphical client (cos its pretty) but want to swap to the command line one - is this tricky, or do I just install the other one when this WU has finished and enter the details and it'll be fine?

Did you change anything?
If you were using the CLI and added or removed the -local switch, it would run at a different client directory.

no changed nothing and same client et al. But I think it was because I had to do a hard shut down without closing it (occasional freezes add so much I find - at least I know what causes it on a mac!)

only another 25% to go now, second time around of course - does that mean I get double the credit?

Want to get better/faster computer to do other stuff with - anyone willing to donate to poor student?

Just bunged it on the oldest computer known to man - the PII 266 MMX computer that runs my MATLAB program. I'm just glad I'm only doing this for another 6 weeks!

Which Tinker? What protein is it? Current tinkers vary from 5.6 points with a 12 day deadline and 100 frames, to 70.9 points with a 50 day deadline and 400 frames.
