I have had it with the trouble of installing OS 10.1.5 on PM7500 with 200 MHz 604E CPUs. Can anyone direct me to a Linux version that works for doing things like Distributed folding? 2GB HDs and about 200 MB RAM is aviable on two computers. Being able to reboot to a second HD with OS 9 or 8.6 is also on the wishing list.

I really do not feel for running SETI that is the only aviable on the classic OS and that sure soon will be gone...

TIA

Not worth the electricity to run the 604e.
Might as well donate it or toss it.

There is a Linux version designed just for those old PowerMacs:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/

It is Yellow Dog Linux. It is based on Red Hat, I quote:

A Red Hat, RPM-based, 32-bit operating system, Yellow Dog Linux is for the home user who desires to breathe life into old hardware, the business person who silently demands a Microsoft-free desktop; developer's and admin's dream come true.
