Looks like we have 3 members on this exclusive team so far.
Looks like the set up is quite different with hadsm3_4.02_powerpc-apple-darwin and hadsm3um_4.02_powerpc-apple-darwin showing on the Activity Monitor, and a viz executable.
Anybody have more information on this?
(In case you were wondering, you need an invitation from Climate Prediction to get on.):-P

I've been checking on Climate Prediction now and then for the past couple of years. Guess it's time to watch them more closely.

Currently it requires a different BOINC version then SETI and Predictor (a newer version 4.02 actually). This version is not currently compatible with SETI or Predictor, so resource sharing is not possible.
There is no work unit validation, so you don't have to wait on someone else to validate your results to get credit, however the work unit times are measured in "weeks" not hours. The time estimate for a single work unit on an Athlon 3000, is 20-25 days. I was invited and signed up, but then lost one of my other computers to hard drive failure and pulled back from it, because I didn't want to lose power on Predictor.
It does support Windows with a GUI or CLI (interesting one), and Linux and Mac OS with a CLI.
As mentioned, it is a "closed beta by invitation". They don't want a huge number of people right now (smart developers). The main project is still the original Climate Prediction project.

Yup Shaktai, I'm the only one on my work unit. It's called the "UK Met Office HadSM3 Slab Model". At the rate you explained, with my little G4 7450 700Mhz, it should take a good long time indeed. I figured it was something to do while I'm waiting for Seti to give me some work. I have boinc_3.20 on another user account asking for work while I have boinc_4.02 crunching climate. I don't know what I'll do when Seti gets going .

Of course the numbers I quoted were the estimates given after about 30 minutes of processing. It is so new, that there is not good info. I just checked the site, and a number of folks have credit as of today, so that is only about 3-4 days. The beauty is that when you do get credit, you get a "Lot" of credit. It might not be so bad for your G4 after all.

Cool. For some reason Climate keeps crashing my Athlon 1900 running Linux. Haven't figured out the problem yet, so no credit.

It does seem a little pickey.
It crashed when classic was run playing the "Winnie the pooh" toddler game. My better half didn't start climate back up so I lost a little CPU time.
Anybody have a cron to start BOINC at log-in?

Make a plain text file with
@reboot cd /Applications/Boinc; /usr/bin/nohup ./boinc_command &
Where the /Applications/Boinc is the path to your boinc folder and ./boinc_command is the boinc command you run (./boinc_3.20_powerpc-apple-darwin or the like).
Save the file in plain text as boinctab.
Then do
crontab boinctab
in Terminal.

I finally got climateprediction-BOINC up and running. I am a new UNIX user with little experience. How do you get the "viz" file (hadsm3viz_4*) installed and running?Eric J Wolfe (wolfee002 with hawaii dot rr period com)

To join the team, go to the homepage for Climate Prediction BOINC at http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/
Make sure you are logged in to your account.
Under "Returning Participants" click on teams. In the search box, type in team macnn.
This should bring up a link to the team page and stats. Towards the top left you will see a link that says "Join this team". Click it and you will be joined. That is all there is to it.
From then on you will see a Team link on your account page. Welcome aboard.

I have both setiathome-BOINC and climateprediction-BOINC up and running; however, when I close the terminal the climateprediction program terminates and quits running. I have "SETIControl" running with setiathome so it always runs in the background even when I close the terminal or seticontrol. How can I keep climateprediction running if I close the terminal or reboot? Please advise. Thanks for your time and trouble. Eric J Wolfe (wolfee002 with hawaii.rr period com)

You need to run it in the background.
If you launch from the command line, just add an & to the end of the command and it will run in the background.
See the other thread for info on how to set up a crontab file to make it run at boot.

I'm not sure everyone knows this.
For those running climate prediction, you can get their vizualization utility running on MacOSX.
There is an issue with their archives that screws up the extraction of the globe.rgb file that is needed by the viz utility.
If you look in Boinc4/projects/climateprediction you will see a file called viz.
This is the visualization tool.
There is also an archive called
hadsm3data_4.03_powerpc-apple-darwin.zip
it contains a ton of stuff and the globe.rgb file.
Make a copy of the zip archive and stick it somewhere else, like in a new folder.
Extract it(drop on stuffit expander or unzip on the command line)
You will get a ton of stuff and a key folder, viz.
This is why the unzipping failed in the climateprediction.net directory, as the viz file was already there and you can't replace a file with a folder.
Inside the viz folder is the globe.rgb file.
Copy globe.rgb to your Boinc4/projects/climateprediction.net folder.
You can delete the folder you made with the copy of the zip and all the stuff you extracted now.
Now in Terminal, with a boinc climatepredictor model already running (in the background or another window) cd to your Boinc4/projects/climateprediction.net folder and type ./viz.
If it doesn't work. make sure viz is executable (chmod a+rx ./viz).
You will get an OpenGL window with some stars in the background if the viz program is able to connect to a running CP model.
The world may be black at first but press the S key or control-click in the middle to pop up a settings menu and play with stuff.
Enjoy!

Mikkyo, thanks very much for your time and trouble. I'll try it at the first opportunity. Thanks again.

Mikkyo, I finally had some time to run your recommendation. I had to add some things to get it to run. Here is the record from my terminal:
cpe-66-8-254-18:~ ericjwolfe$ cd /Applications/BOINC/projects/climateprediction.net/ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=`pwd`:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
cpe-66-8-254-18:/Applications/BOINC/projects/climateprediction.net ericjwolfe$ nice -n18 ./hadsm3viz_4.03* $1
searching for active shmem
using model_id 01zn_100027564
using model_id 03am_300029255
using model_id 03fp_300029438
cpe-66-8-254-18:/Applications/BOINC/projects/climateprediction.net ericjwolfe$
I hope it helps others. Thanks again for your help.

viz is really just a shell script that calls the hadsm3viz_4.03_powerpc-apple-darwin.
Here is what viz is:
------viz-------
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=`pwd`:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
nice -n18 ./hadsm3viz_4.03* $1
