AnandTech, one of the more popular and respected of the high performance PC hardware review sites did an excellent article on the new Mac Mini:

http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=2328

It was very positive and informative, even gave an excellent insight into opening and upgrading your new Mac Mini. They also talked about the iLife 05 series quite positively.

This author has done 3 articles now on Apple products there and all have been very good, fair and balanced. His email address is anand.shimpi@anandtech.com. If you read his articles and like them, send him a note of encouragement. Apple gets very little respect from these type of sites and this is really good press.

It really does seem to be a very realistic review, much better than I expected. It was nice to know that it does not come out of the box with enough memory, so that can be ordered from the beginning. It is impressive how they got everything in that small box and only use the one small fan.

Would be a great first computer for someone to buy or be given, or even a student that is not a gamer or a cruncher. I might even consider giving away a few of these in the next year.

I've been following each of Anand's Mac articles. The article quality is quite good, and he has a lot of credibility. Over time, his articles may help sell more Macs to Wintel users than several Apple stores, and the larger market share is good for all of us.

So yes, drop by and read his articles if you have not already. Anandtech (like MacNN) is supported by page views, and Anand's Mac articles are among his most heavily read. There are sure to be more.
