Ubero is pretty much a dead project and has been for a very long time. They are just reprocessing the same old data over and over and not doing anything scientifically usefull. Ubero is a Java based client. The MacNN client just improved the memory handling as I recall. It is not altivec enabled.
What types of problems are you having with downloading SETI? Maybe we can help there. For instance, if you click and just get a page of garbled looking data, then go back and Control Click and select "Download linked file". It will then download cleanly.
Also, Einstein@Home is currently public beta testing an Altivec client. Works pretty well so far other then that it doesn't play nice with SETI BOINC. (a problem with the libraries on the SETI side). It is Beta though so still work to be done to fix a few issues. Other good projects include Predictor@home and Folding@home.

If you are trying to download BOINC, for SETI or Einstein or whatever, I didn't have any problems downloading at the main boinc site:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
But you can download BOINC at any of the sites that use it also. The BOINC client itself is the same for all of those, you just tell it which projects you want to work on.
