Hello,

I am trying to install and run the command-line version of BOINC on my iBook. I have BOINC running on an old Power Mac and my Linux box. However, this is the first time I try the command-line version on a Mac (the Power Mac uses the menubar GUI). I also run folding@home (command-line version), and have no problems with that on a Mac, though. But, I'm a little lost with BOINC.

I'm trying to run it on a 500 Mhz. G3 iBook with 576 MB of RAM, running 10.4.3. Everytime I run the client, the terminal tells me BOINC has crashed and gives me this:

SIGSEGV: segmentation violation
Crashed executable name: boinc
built using BOINC library version 5.2.13
System version: Macintosh OS 10.4.3 build 8F46
Stack Frame backtrace:

Also, apart from this, I'm not even sure of how to specify a team or anything else for a project. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I have stopped using the cli version myself, but you can take a look at this wiki link:

http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/inde...2C_Mac_OS/X%29

perhaps a cli expert will lend a hand?

You know, I've found it too much trouble to run the BOINC CLI client. I just downloaded the simple menubar GUI client and it's now happily crunching away, error-free.

Cool name, BTW. :-)
