I have an iMac CD 1.83ghz that I'd like to put to use.

Please recommend an intel-native project that Team MacNN is working on that I should join and help out with. Preferably something where

1) Team MacNN is quite competitive and needs extra bits of help
2) It will benefit the scientific/health community. I don't want to use my CPU to look for aliens.

Something that automatically starts after 10 minutes of the computer being idle would be ideal. I wanna put this baby to work!

Look at:
http://members.dslextreme.com/~reade...boincbeta.html

Under:
CLI 5.2.13 Clients.
superbench versions
not GUI-compatible

They have a Darwin x86 compatible version of Boinc clients. I know of no
others at this time.

The BOINC client is only a front end. Currently none of the projects have MacTel compatible science apps that are optimized. However some projects will run under Rosetta, though slowly.

On the upside though, Bruce Allen, the project adminstrator for Einstein@home posted the following on Jan 31st.
I've got an Intel Dual Core Mac on order (so does Bernd) so we can start building and testing an x86 port for OS X.
Einstein was the first (and still only) project with a project supplied optimized Macintosh science app. Looks like they will also be the first to have a MacIntel compatible app. Keep an eye on their website. Once they have something that looks stable, I'm sure they will be looking for testers. Also apparently the BOINC developers are rumored to be working on a "universal BOINC binary" for the macs as well.
