I am new too seti. I have a dual 1.25 g4 but its crunching 1 in 12 hours tried downloading the optimized software and running it instead of BOINC's, but would not run can anyone help me. It said there was a pasword problem?

We were all new once. What your going to have to do is play catch up. Reading around this board will tell you a lot and reading the BOINC program help files should help some more. Explore and reading around the seti web site is also useful as others may have this problem. Sorry, but the information you supplied is way to little to provide any help, and a password word problem could be anything from a typo to a major software bug, not unlikley with BOINC's on going development .

Okay done some reading and now I get 1 block per 4-6 hours is that the fastest I can expect?

Did you download the optimized client (see the links in the very long
altivec client thread in this forum)?

I am thinking no. My 400 mhz G4 gets a workunit done every 2 hours
like clockwork. You should be able to do better than that with the
optimized BoincManager and Seti worker.

Yes both superbench mark software has been downloaded now running under 2 hour thank god thanks for your help. Is this the best I can hope for?
