Getting an sql error message from this address.

Please can we have a shiny new web page like http://www.macnn.com/ (or is just that I haven't visited in a while.) Any chance of a permanant recruiting link from it to us?

Looks like they didn't update our DB access privs when they switched IP addresses yesterday. According to the error log, we started getting denied DB access the morning of Aug 3. I'll send an email to the correct folks to fix that.

The MacNN portal page has been around for many months now, and has a lot of detractors. Fortunately, they kept the previous news page at http://legacy.macnn.com for those who don't like the new design.

We've historically had a link to team on the main news page, and it's still there on legacy. When they put us on a main MacNN navigation tab, then they want our page design to match that of the news site redesigns, of which the latest is the least attractive in my opinion.

Anything more ... at one time, we used to send team news blurbs to macnn for posting. The last one drew a lot of derision in the comments for wasting peoples' time, slow news day, etc. That was a few years ago. Today, we usually have a link, and rely on our forum with catchy description. Everyone visits eventually.

What did you have in mind, when you said "recruiting link"?

email sent. The reply times have been erratic in the past, up to a couple days. However, the reply times seem to be in proportion to the apparent difficulty of the request. This one looks easy, so I expect it will get fixed fast.

We're back!

I wonder if the Energizer Bunny people would like to hire us for a promo?

I was thinking a promotional animated gif or some such, linking to this forum, and we should really have a 'How to install and set up BOINC' sticky. I know there have been a couple of tries to do this in the past, I will try over the next couple of weeks and PM you with a text, if you are agreeable.

Before you invest much time writing a BOINC guide, please note that TiloProbst wrote a SETI-BOINC install guide not too long ago.

It is linked from our Team Resources sticky thread, and the teamsite Resources Page.

That one is fairly SETI-centric, you might want to expand on it or write a generic-BOINC guide from scratch. Either way, more resources are always welcome.

ps - I try to avoid stickies wherever possible. Some other teams have overdosed on stickies, they have so many that you have to scroll down to reach real threads. I'd rather have all useful resources linked from a single sticky to keep things tidy.

Far as I know, the great link is doing just fine. Oh, you meant the teamsite recruiting link.

It shouldn't be too hard to talk them into putting a text link back on the current news page. There's no way we could talk them into posting an animated GIF. However, if someone wants to try their hand at creating one, we could stick it on the team page and see what people think.
