CompUSA just had one of their specials:
"eMachines Desktop Computer (T6534) and 17" CRT Monitor with AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2GHz processor, 512MB memory, 200GB hard drive, 16x DVD Burner for $580, then a $50 mail-in rebate is available on the PC, a $50 mail-in rebate on the monitor, and a $180 CompUSA eRebate on the bundle. Final price comes to about $300 after rebate. A good deal if you don't mind the hassle of multiple rebates, and if you want an old CRT technology monitor."
It was a 6:00 pm to midnight special. I got there at 6:08 and got the last one.
Anyway, I am going to replace the CPU with an x2 4800+ and add another 512mb DIMM. Hopefully the entra L2 of the 4800+ will mitigate the slower RAM (939 socket).
So that is $300 + $250 + $57 = $607 plus an extra 17" CRT monitor and Athlon 64 3700+ (which I have any use for). Pretty good, I think.
Anyone near Dublin, CA that can use a Athlon 64 3700+?
