Ok, I've gotten RC5 working toleribly well on my iBook 600. Now I'd like to know, what kinda machine could I add that'll help my crunching. Would say a 6100 help? Or even a PrePPC machine? I mean I could probably get my hands on older machines, but not G3's or anything like that. Would running off a G4 533 help? (I know it would, but how much?). And what kinda help could I get from say a 100mhz 601 or 603e?

Thanks

Try the client speed database here. Note that a few of the reports are bogus, you can usually spot the ones that are inflated.

Keys per sec:
4,712K - G4 533 SP
1,990K - iBook 600 (G3 600)
305K - 603e 100
174K - 601 100
105K - 601 60
27K - Quadra 68040 33

Keep in mind that electricity is expensive. Is the little rate-upping you get from running a Pre-PPC machine worth your dollar on the kWh?
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.

I agree looking at the specs that a Pre-PPC wouldn't help enough to be worth it. Looks like my best bet is to install on my Mom's G4 533. My iBook doesn't crunch that well, I wish I had kept that 8600/300 I had now, that machine was sweet.
