I finally thought I would check out how well my machine does at Ubero. I registered, joined the team, and installed Ubero. When it came to run it for the first time, and provide my user name and pass, all I get after almost a minute is this
As cool as Mac OS X error messages look, they're still not a good thing to see. I've tried restarting my mac, reinstalling ubero, and using a different name, but nothing works. I always get that message when setting up the agent.

They just recently fixed this problem. you need to go into the Ubero folder and open the agent.cfg in text Edit. Then change the 80 in this line "Coordinator-Port: 80" to 443 and save. Then it should all work like a dream. If you still have trouble, click on the forum link on the Ubero page and ask for help there but this should work.

Glad to help. Welcome to the ubero team. Check out the we've been insulted thread for a trick to make it go faster. I wrote the installation notes that are on the site now, and I'm starting the optimization ones tonight.

I read those optimization tips and they work great. I can do 20 ...whatevers... in a little less than a second.
BTW If I accidentally told the GUI to run hidden, how do I go about getting it back?
Thank you again for that help, I don't know where else I would have gotten that info.

Well those 20 whatevers are utterly irrelevant, it's assignments that count.
Just relaunch the app, it will unhide itself.

It doesn't unhide itself. I run the agent, and it shows up in the dock, and I can tell it's working by using "top", but I can't access the prefs. All I can't do in the Agent menu is just use services, show/hide, and quit.

Got it! I just had to change True to False on the Start-hidden line of the agent.cfg file. I really like it when programmers make such simple preference files.
