Something's wrong with the proxy servers, they both appear to have disappeared from the net
I'm working on it, but this could be a long one.
Hopefully they will come back up by the morning.

They are still missing
RC5 people shouldn't need to make any configuration changes, the client should auto fallback to a rc5 mainserver when connection with mine fails.

Ok, they should be back up tonight.
Turns out the whole internet connection for the building went down.

Or not up.
The phone company (ISP) screwed up, and that's why the line is down. Now they are saying the'll fix it tomorrow
You can change the proxy URL for RC5 people from jaffacpas.dyndns.org to rc5.macnn.com, and use that proxy from now on.
More news as I get it.

Scott,
Would this be a permanent change or just a temporary one? Or would it better to split between the two?
I'm hoping that the default RC5 servers are properly recording contributions!
Cheers.

We don't have to change proxies do we? Or would you recommend we do?

My proxy is still down.
I would switch to rc5.macnn.com as your proxy. Right now that proxy is dumping to distributed.net, but whenever my line is fixed it will dump to there. What I don't have during this outage is logs of all the stats, so there will be no stats history for this time.
rc5.macnn.com will become the new proxy address, and, if more people sign up, it will actually point to multiple proxies.
Also, I will be retiring jaffacpas.dyndns.org, but not for a long time.
I'll be posting more news about the new address later.

After the race, will rc5.macnn.com still be active? I plan to leave some clients running indefinitely while I wll probably explore other distributed computing challenges (like Ubero).
Cheers.

Yes.
RC5.macnn.com is the new permanent proxy address. seti.macnn.com will be coming soon, along with any other proxy apps for any other projects.
And yes, my proxy servers are still down. I'm yelling and screaming, but no luck.

Check out ubero if you are running OS X. It behaves well with the system, and doesn't crimp the processor. Of course, I am running on a DP, so I am not sure. It does run all day long, though!
If you decide to run Ubero, add MacNN to your username to join the team. Hope to see you on the boards!
