Am I screwing the pooch by doing this? I have had the Screen Saver version of SETI@home running flawlessly on my G4 PowerMac for some time now (all of 2 weeks) and I just installed the CLI version for OSX and fired that up as well. I noticed the tremendous speed improvement on that miserable Sony Vaio laptop when I went to the command line version and figured, "What's good for a P III processor laptop running Win2000 Pro must be great for a G4 running OSX." Should I kill the Screen Saver version on my Mac (once its done with its current WU) or leave 'em both running?

The CLI does not give such a dramatic speed boost on the Mac, unless you had the screen saver showing graphics full time.

It will not hurt it to run both. If you have a dialup connection, there is some benefit from having two clients, so if one finishes the other will keep crunching. But you can do that with 2 CLI clients.

I suppose it depends on if you like to see the SETI@home graphics now and then. It will not hurt anything, but the CLI will be somewhat faster, especially if you leave it running in the background all the time.

If you've got broadband or a dial on demand modem, turn off the screensaver.
It is slower, although not as much.
