The upgrade is a NewerTech 240 MHz for 7100/8100. Driver software is MAXpowr v2.05, the most recent (last) from NewerTech/TechnoWarehouse. The 7100 has an HPV card, 72 MB RAM, and OS 8.0. The 8100 has OS 8.1, 40 MB RAM, and is connected to a monitor via a 'dongle' (HD45 to DB15 adapter).

The upgrade has been tried in BOTH machines. In both machines, startup hangs while loading the MAXpowr extension. Card itself seems to be in working order, HPV card works while attached to the upgrade card. [Update: this is no longer the case. The card may be a dud.]

Do I need to upgrade to OS 9? Do I need to find v2.04? I have Emailed both TechnoWarehouse (probably closed) and the seller of the card (probably has a life), neither have written back yet, but it's only been 3 hours.

Ideas?

I have a NewerTech G3 450 card that I put in my 8500 about 2 weeks ago. No problems so far. My production in RC5 went from 450Kkeys/sec to 1.4Mkeys/sec. Not too shabby. Anyway, here is a link to all of the drivers NewerTech released for their cards. Good luck...

Thanks for the info.

I accidentally sat down on the upgrade card. It's broken. I'm out US$76.75. I never got the problem diagnosed. Maybe I should go join Team DipShit.
