I am having the worst time trying to get through yahoo's rigamaroll just to get onto the official Folding@Home mailing list, so for the moment, I'll post my question here.
How do I determine the project number for the current unit? I've found project names, but those are sometimes duplicated (i.e. GNRA Hairpin ORC is the name for projects 313 and 314). I'd like to be able to differentiate them for iFold stat collecting, but haven't found the actual project numbers in log files, etc.

What you are looking for is the "protein number", you will find it in the log files.
In the workunit logfile:
Folding@Home Client Core Version 2.42 (Jan 29, 2002)
Proj: work/wudata_09
nsteps: 125000 dt: 2.000000 dt_dump: 25.000000 temperature: 202.000000
xyzfile:
" 389 GNRA hairpin ORC-(4,0)
1 OS 18.540113 -32.415443 16.665526..."
keyfile:
"NOVERSION
I have bolded the protein description. The number you are looking for is at the beginning, "389" in this case. You will find the same line of data in the main logfile.

I thought it was that originally, but upon closer examination of all my logs (F@H keeps 00-09 and cycles through), 389 appears at the top of each one. Going to my profile on F@H's site, it shows which proteins you've worked on. A project numbered 389 doesn't even exist.
GNRA Hairpin ORC corresponds to TWO projects: 313 and 314. I cannot, however, find any differentiation between the two projects based on just 389 GNRA hairpin ORC-(4,0). Looking through the logs, I show no mention of the actual project number.
I'd like to get info based on the actual project number, so the user can easily see correlations with F@H server data. Seems rather pointless to clump 313 and 314 just because they use the same header info.
Anyways, I've just succeeded in posting to the list, so I'll wait a response.
Kyle
[edit] Here's a link to the projects page (you'd have to scroll through the old news on the F@H site to find it): All Projects Try 301-314 (that's what OS X users have been getting lately).

Thanks for the projects link, I had been meaning to hunt it up for the "Useful Links" area on our Folding pages. It has been added.
I'd have eventually started wondering why every work unit was a 389.
Upon looking through all the work unit data files, there does not seem to be an obvious project number. The client may not know the actual project number. Please let us know if any of the Folding people give an answer.

Will do...apparently others on the list have/are requesting this info as well. But, no official responses yet.
