Apple doesn't read these message boards. If you have a complaint or suggestion for OS X send feedback where it will do some good.

From the article it seems that they are incredibly excited about using our G4 processors. It would lead one to believe that they would re-write it to take advantage of Alti-Vec, but I doubt that will happen. It'd be nice if I was wrong though.

It's kind of funny that they talk about the power of the G4
processor but the Mac clients are only working on two proteins.
Compare the article at Apple to the current reality for those of us
on the OS X client.

From an earlier post on yahoo groups by Bert who is one of the folks working directly with F@H:

"Yes, the Mac client is slower due to the compiler, lacking MHz
and because Altivec can not be exploited. For F@H... it is very
important that work units are returned quickly. So, we have been
assigned this project where we can do useful work without
adverse effect on other projects."
