So far today, Team Picard has out crunched us by 100 assignments. We cannot let their production rise above ours. More power is needed.

I have been noticing that also. I will try to crunch a few more units per day then.

hey guys, i was recently crunching seti units for team macaddict. SETI problems with reduced bandwidth and server probs have peeved me a bit, since my computer remains inactive for such a long time.

i work for a company that will soon be partnering with genomics on some very interesting research so im going UBERO full swing now.

since you are the only team i see right now that a MAC head like myself would be at home in, i will be joining your team today. i think i have about 266 assignments under my belt.

my g4-867 and my p4-1.3 are all yours

WELCOME then.

Be sure to find and use the tweaks found in the recent forums here. More WUs are to be had with ease using these tweaks.

well, since your server sint letting me register im just gonna post here to follow up my past post, hope someone reads it.

when i first started out i had my pentium 4 doing twice the assignments my g4 was doing but i implemented that tweak through the command line wich gives the ubero app a **** load of ram. now my g4 867 is basically running neck to neck with the p4 1.3. that was one hell of a tweak. im running xp on the pc and i installed the ibm java runtime enviro. and the JDK. not much of a difference there. ANYTHING I CAN DO IN XP?

if any of you havent noticed im blazing up the charts and will be overtaking some of you soon. but thats not good enough. right now it seems my ubero app is getting 421 megs when its in full swing on my g4. i have a gig and a half of ram and i would like to put a lot more of it to use if it will provide me with a substantial increase in assignments completed. anyone know how to tweak the tweak to get some more juice out of it.

also, does that command line tweak work on, lets say, yellow dog linux.....or any flavor of linux for that matter? what about bsd....i hope so cause osx has got a bsd underpinning.

thanks guys,
later

That IBM JDK outperforms the Sun JDK only on Athlon CPU's. I would recomend the Sun JDK 1.4beta and the memory tweak. About tweaking the tweak, I would bet that there is a point of diminishing returns, but try it anyways. Just replace the 300 with something like 600 and the 100 with 200. That should double its max and min memory allocation.
