I earlier updated dfold to the new protein, I expected it to be slower, but on my machine 'slower' doesn't even begin to cover it...

I have had it running (2 clients on my dualie) pretty much all evening (4-5 hours) and just checked to see the results....about 3000 units each. Is this about right?? it just seems so much slower than previously...or do I have a problems somewhere along the line?

Cheers

Marc

I'm not liking the update either. It seems as though it is crunching things muuuch slower than before!

In my exprience it's about half the speed, nothing terribly dramatic. I think that's because it now crunches 76 residues to each structure, and before it was 36. So each structure is twice as precise, and takes twice as long.

I'm seeing about 35 of the output of the previous protein.
Will take us a lot longer to break into the top 10 teams.
Tag ur it.

Keep in mind that while it is slower for us, it is slower for everyone else too. True, it will take us a little longer to make the top ten, but if we keep growing, and keep working at it, in typical MacNN style, we should surprise not only ourselves but everyone else as well. In the meantime, we have better science for Howard and gang to work with.
