A screen saver has been released for OS X.
Not sure when- but I think today.
Today is first I saw it anyway-

Cool but I fear it will be a lot slower due to the constant graphics redraw. I think I will let someone else try it out first. I see that they have redone the folding website as well. Much nicer and better organized.

Just trying CLI vs. GUI and CLI was MUCH faster.... like days faster.

Interesting. I tried several units with both on two different computers and with the GUI hidden, they both ran almost the same. within 45 seconds average per work unit.

Yes- the gui version is just as fast as cli if you hide it.

Drag it into the Login Items and check the keep hidden box.

As far as the screensaver goes- where I would find it valuable is in the work place where you need to lock your screen as you go to lunch or to the restroom and don't want to log all the way out.

Also, in school classrooms etc. it could help spark interest in science among kids- and that (imho) is a better achievement than anything folding by itself can accomplish
