On the folding rank page-

Team MUSHMellow has 4151 points and is doing 88 a day.
They are classified as burried deep.

Team currywurst has less points (4092) and does less a day (38).
They are classified as burried.

Um, is burried a worse thing to be than burried deep?
Because it looks to me like the burried deep teams have better shot at coming back than teh burried teams.

Is that the case (which I would find odd) or am I just not understanding it?

The burial status is based on a reverse intercept. Use current rates, and figure how long ago the intercept would have happened. Buried Deep teams were passed "long ago", while buried teams were passed "recently". At the same distance (in score units), faster crunchers would have been passed a longer time ago.

If you check the Top 100 page, you will see that all teams presently become "buried deep" as you go a decent distance down. Except teams that are outcrunching us of course.

Teams that are crunching fairly well do have a slightly better chance of coming back, and they will be flagged if their rate exceeds ours. Until it does, they will keep falling farther behind.
