I have a friend running folding who is concerned that leaving her computer on all the time will break her computer. With Scotts thread about his Mobo frying, is this something I should be concerned about? Is it best to shut down the computer every once in a while? If so, how long should I keep it running between shutdowns? How long should I leave it off? This goes for both my Ti and my friends wintel laptop.

Thanks

You can leave them running unless you are in super hot conditions without airconditioning. Or you are silly and leave your Tibook on the bed sitting in your down comforter which covers the vent holes.

No, actually my problem was just the fan failed. Nothing big this time.

But as apple tells me every time I call, a laptop isn't meant to be run that much. I tell em to fix it and that I will use it as much as I want to.
