For auto update to work, you need a file called autoupdate.cfg, with a '1' in it.
This file has to be in the directory.
Otherwise, distfold will prompt you to install the update, which is a pain with multiple systems.

I didn't see it in the dFold FAQ, so here is a quick newbies How to for creating the autoupdate.cfg.
Open Text edit
Type the number " 1 " (no parentheses, spaces or returns)
Go to the format menu and select "Make Plain Text".
Go file and select "Save as"
In the lower left of the save as window, make certain that "Hide Extension" is NOT checked.
In the file name field type autoupdate.cfg (remove the .txt the system will attempt to put there.)
Click save - You should see an alert that says, "Document name autoupdate.cfg already seems to have an extension. Append '.txt' anyway?
CLICK on DON'T APPEND
This will save the file as a .cfg instead of a .txt file. If you have file name extensions hidden, and .txt is appended behind the .cfg, you won't see it, but the system will and the autoupdate will not work.
If in doubt, click once on the autoupdate.cfg file in the finder and then Get Info (Command I ) Select 'name and extension' in the popup and make certain that .txt does not appear at the end. If it does, delete it. (Notepad in Windows also has a similar tendency to want to append .txt to every file, even if it is hidden - just for any Windows users) Haven't had the problem with Linux text editors.

Download <a href="http://www.barebones.com/products/bbedit_lite.html" target="_blank">BBEdit Lite</a> (free). It is perfect for editing config files, scripts, etc.
It always saves as plain text, and does not try to add extensions. The name you save by will always be the real file name.
