As our team grows and expands, it would be cool for people to post some important points for them and get reconized.

For example, I'm about ready to hit 500 W/U's. It would be nice to have a thread where people could come to post some milestones.

All team members are welcome to post milestones when they reach them.

enjoy

You know brock, you're really starting to annoy me!
OK, I'm close to 500 units with one measly G4 and my Newtons!
...slowly being kicked outta the top-20 thanks to wankers like you with 200 Macs!

Well, let's get cracking then. We're moving real fast, and we're gaining on the top 200. I want our names on that list!!!!!

I'd do what I could, but I can't do anything. I'm moving, and as of this evening, I only have my PowerBook, which just doesn't like to chug while I"m using it. So, I'll be out of commission for almost a month. Not that I've been too much of a help lately, of course, but I'm doing what I can with the site.

Kudos to you all. And encourage your friends to join. I think we have a legitimate chance to break through some huge rankings with some help, and when you think about the fact that we're all doing this because we want to and NOT because MacNN publishes about it everyday, I think we're doing quite impressively.

So get out there and sell sell sell...and crunch.

I'm happy to report my recent completion of W/U number 1500! I was going to send out announcements to friends and family, but my wife thought that would be weird...

I was just looking at the pace that the 200th place team is on and the pace that we are pumping out W/Us. Figures came out that we'll hit them just over 20,000W/Us. This is only good if we both hold our current progress.

Man Brock, what's with yer avg. time? Yer dragging us down as far as avg. time goes! hehe.

Or I'm just bitter because I only have 4 Macs on it and only 450 units.

No where at Seti's home page I see teams listed by average time. The only thing I see is W/Us complete. hehe

The sad part is....it's gonna get worse time wise. I just hope that my trusty G3 can keep my times in check to a certain point.

30+hours/WU is sucky....but I'll have to put the blame on you guys. If you guys were pumping out the low times then this would all average out. So it's your guys fault for not keeping up. ;P

Heh.

You've got G3s that take 30 hours? What is SETI doing, running in the background while you work with Photoshop?

mkbhatia's (coworker, friend) 20th Century (200 Mhz 603e) does units in 33 hours while running IPNetRouter (and doing nothing else).

I'd expect at least a sub-30 hour time from a 233 MHz G3 or faster.

Curious. As a side note, I commend everyone who has an average time of under 10 hours. And I commend users twice who have a time under 10 hours and more than a year of computer time logged.

And I commend everyone else three times for being a part of this team...

Misha,

1- G3 350Mhz = 6.5 to 7hours/wu
16-7200/120Mhz = 50hours/wu
16-Performa 6214cd = 120hours/wu

This means sucky average.

Where did ddiokno come from? 4000+ units between his two accounts! Pity old units don't count for MacNN

Still looks cool, though.

According to this page, ddiokno (dave) stats are accounted for. We had about 17300 before he came and now we have 21640 W/Us.
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...eam_62645.html

Looks like he brought them with him....if this is true, then we just cracked the top 200 Clubs!!!!!!

Curious. If you use this lookup for our team, the stats haven't been transferred:

Also, if you check the team.macnn.com stats, the total hasn't been upped either.

I don't think we get 'em.

Well Misha, now I know your right. If you look at my previous post and follow that link, Seti has changed it to match our total without ddiokno old W/Us. Oh well, I guess we'll have to earn our way up the ladder.

(Edit- I should crack 600 W/Us tonight or tomorrow some time)

Keep on crunching!!

*sigh*

not really, a couple of folks have joined more than once, entering their different macs singly instead of as one group under whatever name they wish to use...

so i figure we have actually only 95-98 members maybe, not sure, bu we ain't got 100 yet... unless of course we are above 100 now as i 'speak'

So no party at your place Lon. We should get into the top 200 clubs by MWNY. All of us could come over and have some drinks and then slip over to MWNY.

Plus I can go see my Mets play as well.

Sounds like a plan!!

Well, I'll have to start pulling some funds to make a trip to NY. I live in NW Ohio so the trip will be a good drive for me. I don't think I can make it to MWNY though. But I do want to make it to a Mets' game this year. Besides my trip down to Cinci to see them play the Reds.

I'll have to see later.

I know....did you see security is being bumped up for the series in Shea this weekend against the Braves.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/bas...r_security_ap/

So according to Rocker, Lon since you're a NYorker. That means you are one of these:

Please clarify for us!!

"Imagine taking the 7 train ... looking like you're (in) Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids," he said. "It's depressing."

He added: "The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. ... How the hell did they get in this country?"

I guess he is planning to ride the 7 train on the way to Shea. Oh well...if he gets beat up, then I won't shead a tear for him. What an idiot.

GO METS!!!

brock

sorry for the rant , but this guy is under my skin!!

Sadly, poor little Johnny won't get his butt kicked on the subway. Rocker has expressed his desire to ride the subway, and an NYPD spokeswoman made the following statement, "If Rocker gets on the train, he'll be entirely surrounded by police officers." Damn shame.

Rocker is a stinking POS... a subhuman, a troglodyte, a candidate for a much needed shotgun blast to the face...

ok ok ok so i'm a bit overboard... but he is a goddam disgrace to humanity and we'd all be better off if_all_folks like him would off themselves, NOW.

i am most definitely wishing him dead, ok? and all like him.

Good and DEAD... NOW.

Yeee Haaaa

I finally have completed my 200th unit!

And the mates on this team have cracked over 20713 units at this time.

Jeff

And to Mike Elness; sorry but it's been a long hard ride to get past you.
(I would be ahead sooner but visiting the boards and playing unreal tournament has been holding me back)

Btw after Macworld I hope to something new and something old to add to my totals!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I've got about 90 University Macs running. Some are G4/500 (5.5 hrs/unit!) but i have about 20 PowerMac 4400s & 5500s that return @ 80hrs and they realy mess up my average time per unit. I hope hope phaze them out with some new stuff before September (32 new G4s approx.) It's a fun setup. I should be topping 5000 the second week of August.

still slowly but surely falling in the standings here... travelling too much, it is killing my seti output... i am afraid of leaving my macs at home running without me for weeks... probably shouldn't be afraid but i err on the side of caution in such matters even if they are 'protected'... and tho' i love my iBook, it is frightful slow with seti...

oh well... life is hard

Ok Lon, do the math with me.

Let's see, you live in NY and how many other people live in NY? Plus, I'm sure you probably live in an apartment as well. So for lightning to get routed souly to your apartment building and even to your apartment power outlet that your computer is plugged into is how probabable?

Hmmmmm....

I wish I was good with probabilities cause I'd love to bet money on that your computer(s) won't get nixed by lightning.

hehe

What other worries are you afraid of?

Lightning? That's what we have all these tall buildings for! Thank you, Con Ed! (I'm also a NY'er)

Let's see-- SETI Checker says 1394 units, 1.34 years total time, 8h 27' average. That's a few G4s and G3s working part-time on the office network.. So count me in on Team MacNN.

True, but what if the first struck the Southwest corner of his building and the next one will hit the Northeast corner? Either way the building gets fried, but the strikes occur in different spots.

I say hook it up anyway, then you would then have a lightning fast mac. (Yes. I know that was a really, really stupid joke, but I couldn't resist.)

Well let's hope lightning never strikes twice in the same place becaue my Rev A iMac didn't like it at all, $1,000 of repairs...
I hope the insurance will cover that one.

And now only an iBook SE to crunch units, tough to keep the pace with top 20. Gotta have a look at these MP G4 when they come out...

Good luck

Triple Digits! Yeah, Baby, Yeah!!!

Sorry. Got a little over-excited. My completion times were barely under 30 hours before joining Team MacNN. With the advice that everyone gave, I am down to about 13 hours! Which is bringing down my overall average.

if it were just me and my G4, I would have 'bout 450 WU done at an average of 6:30 or something (my early times was 8+ hours/WU since I didn't know any tricks whatsoever)... 'course there are them G3s that are slowing things down...(233 OC to 292, 266 OC to 333, iMac 333, iMac 350, each get a WU in 'bout 12 to 14 hours...)
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
