Hey Wlonh,
my iBook SE (128 Mb, VM off) takes 13h 15 m on average to finish a unit whereas my rev A iMac takes 15h. I was dissapointed by my iBook and actually going to sell it to buy something else in the fall, maybe the $700 to shell out for the PowerBook is worth after all.
Ciao

well fortunately for me, i have another Mac that does run seti well... a rev2 beige G3 minitower @ 466MHz and 288M RAM, and it does a seti WU in an average of 5.5 hrs... decent speed
i just recently decided to turn up my output by using my iBook, and it is kinda disappointing

I should add a few things:
my iBook runs SETI with high priority (PeekABoo) and the cache is overclocked to 2:1 (183Mhz), any ideas to go faster?
besides SETI, everything feels faster (x1.5 to x2) compared to rev A iMac,
GO TEAM MACNN, as one of the first members I am almost happy (sic...) that my position keeps slidind from the top10.
Let's get more members and get in the top 200.
Good day to you.

which L2 cache software do you use? i use xlr8's Mach Speed on both the G3 and the iBook
you can use a RAM disk for the SETI@home Data folder, it can be found in the Application Support folder in your System Folder...
that's about all you can do, seems to me you have got the rest already... you do run it in screensaver mode and set to go to blank screen at one minute? that seems best
even though my iBook can't crunch WU's very fast, it is still an addition to my output with my G3 (466MHz, 1M L2 cache) which outperforms the iBook almost three to one...
i appreciate your support of Team MacNN as one of its earliest members

quick instructions for using RAM disk with SETI:
make a RAM disk about 1M, copy the Seti@home data folder to it, make an alias of the folder, place the alias in the Applications support folder after removing the original Seti@home data folder

Cache software I'm using is PowerLogix Cache Control 1.3, but similar results are available with G3/G4 strip and I'm certain other similar applications. Some Macs respond better than others to the speedup. Some can be sped up faster than others. Your mileage may vary. Don't blame me if something blows up. Thanks.
