Does anyone out there know of a script or control panel that can autodial at set times (say 30 min intervals)? I'm one of those people who works for a cable company and sells cable modems, but can't get service at my apartment (such a cruel world!). Please let me know if you know of anything that may help my computer dialup and send the WU that is done.

Im in the same boat as you Jeffdano!! So what I did is download Seti Unit Manager (SUM) to use for this dilema. It will download any amount of W/Us that you want. I got mine set to 20 W/Us and when it is done with one unit, it will automatically start on the next one. Then at anytime that you want to upload your result(s), you can do this by dropping the Connect Now file on it. The directions were pretty clear. I hope this will solve your problem. Plus it will keep your computer working on a Unit all the time Seti@Home is running.

Brock,
I've heard interesting things about the SUM script. Things like it will send the say 10 WU back, but you only get credit for one. Is this true?
Thanks for your help!

Well, consider me your SUM ginea pig. I've been using it for about 3 months now. Really haven't had any problems. It is a nice little utlility/script.
About the "send some back and not get credit for them" this is ridiculous. Everyone I've completed I've got credit for.
BUT!!!, every 50th result will !!!try!!! to be sent to "Team MacVillage" a member of "MacAddict". You can avoid this really easily. In the "OUT" folder, (where your finished results are ready to be sent back), there is a simple naming scheme that they use to lable each completed W/U.
Seti@Home Data
Seti@Home Data1
Seti@Home Data2
ect ect ect.....
Well when the message comes up that says upload to MacVillage, just quit SUM before the upload completes. Uploading on a modem takes about a few seconds....so there is no rush to quit. Then go into the folder and change the name of the next unit (the one that is being sent back next) to Seti@Home Datax. x being the next number of the Unit to be sent back. This will trick SUM by thinking it already sent back it's result. Hehe!!
Anyways, this only happens like every 50th upload. So it really isn't a hassle. Plus it keeps my G3/350 crunching all the time I'm not using it.
If you have anymore questions just ask.
Overall, I would rate this as a MUST for a modem end Seti@Home User. I've gained about 10 more completed units/week just on my machine by having it crunch all the time.

Gang,
I actually found a few ways to pull this off.
1. Use SETI Manager via setting it to check stats every hour.
2. Use email program (Eudora or MS Outlook) and set it to check email every xx minutes.
I have found that (have 2 computers at home, G3 400 and G4 400, 3rd computer (PC) is T1'd at work) timing them by 15-20 minutes a part for dialing in and using different options for each seem to allow packets to process throughout the night without problems. Also have set PPP to 5 minute timeout on connection so it hangs up before the other one dials.
Visit my webpage for more info on my efforts with the SETI@home project.
