SETI is running quite a bit slower on my comp for some reason, i have not changed my tasks at all on my comp, but now, all of a sudden, i'm getting 11 1/2 + WU instead of my average 9 hours 45 minutes. Does anyone have any really killer speed tips and does anyone know why this is happenning?

all of these listed are in more detail on the fora
1 use a ram disk
2 set to run as screen saver and go to blank screen after 1 minute
3 download lib moto
4 use peek a boo to kill finder and stuff
5 rebuild desktop and zap pram occasionally

6 This is one I've only heard mentioned a couple of times but has knocked about an hour off the times that I used to get. Go into Energy Saver control panel and have monitor and hard disk shut down after like half an hour of no activity. I believe that the decrease in the amount of heat generated from the monitor and hard disk make the already hot chip (138°F) in my imac perform better.
7 Also, if you are using a modem, under remote access, options, connection: set to disconnect from the internet after so many minutes.

All these dropped my average times from well over 16 hours when I first started to sometimes under 15 hours.

Ok posters time to let them have it. MacNN Staff It's our duty to let MacNN know we hate intelliTXT!

Yeah, i did all of that, except the Peekaboo because when i tried that last week it raised my time by 2 hours, i don't know why, but pretty much, i got around 9 hours, 45 min just doing the screensaver tip, and now it's getting past 11 hours.
