I can't testify about anyone else, but I've been working on a couple of projects and a couple of jobs. One of the projects is a SETI-optimization page. Have you ever tried to compile all the tricks that actual work? It ain't easy.

Hmmm, while running Seti and using my computer at the same time seems to yield the following results...

-Aim running seems to take 1-2% of my processor
-Outlook Express is a pig....But I wouldn't expect anything more out of them than winstar.net is for bandwidth
-MSIE running, no problem, just don't click on anything
-Appletalk is bad
-Airport card active in a G4 is bad
-Seti window shaded and to front or black screen doesn't appear to matter
-Ram disk active but with a 30gig, 7200rpm HD doesn't even make the slightest dent even with 360mb's of ram built in with virtual memory off...
-The difference between XLR8 and Powerlogix isn't discernable but missed when one or the other isn't running.
-Saving WU's is good, when Seti has it's 'down times'
-Locking the box up in a freezer doesn't produce any noticable gains other than an instant access beer locker and slightly higher electric bills- but your friends think it's kewl..
-Playing MP3's while attempting to crush a WU is a bad idea even if Seti is to front...
-Playing DVD's in a DVDram drive while trying to crusha WU? Seti looses that battle...

Oh yeah, Seti 2.04, OS 9.0.4 AGP 450mhz G4 single processor

I think many of us are trying to find out ways to regain speed using the 3.0 client. I still havenīt... Thats why people donīt have the time to chat around here.
I downgraded two thirds of my machines today and productivity increased by 80%! Iīll go for 2.04 as long as Berkely will let me.
