Sure won't on mine. v3.00 on a BW300/128 and sys8.6 using a ramdisk (also tested w/o ramdisk with the same results). Is this just the way it is now?

SETI3 runs in the background on my iMac Rev B (233MHz/160MB/9.04) all the time.

What other applications are you running at the same time? Several of them do not play well with others.

Have you tried Peekaboo from http://www.clarkwoodsoftware.com ? You can use it to set SETI as the highest priority program and thus defeat the evil programs that hog the processor instead of multi-tasking.

Hope this helps.

I pulled down peekaboo, and it looks like Pagemaker is the culprit. Most of the time, at least. There's no setting within peekaboo that will pull decent performance out of PM and give seti any cpu cycles. Something must be different, though. With 2.04 I'd get performance hits in PM, but with 3 I can have AOL's IM in front of seti and seti sits there like I rock with a tree on top of it.
