It says on your team page that you are in 56th place, but on the seti page, it says you're in 99th place. It says that the seti pages might be a little outdated, but then where do you get your information from?

On page http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...am_type_0.html it says #99. That is for all teams, including government, university, and corporation teams; like Fermilab, Sun Microsystems, the University of Washington, The School of Hard Knocks, etc.
We were #56 at the last SETI Club Team list http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...am_type_4.html update on 01 Nov. That's where the #56 comes from. We are/will be #54 (at the next update) in the Club Teams division, which is just groups of volunteers who are not specifically attached to corporations, schools, or governmental entities.

We will be recalling your free swizzle stick!
Seriously, we Mac users & Mac teams do not do too badly considering that we are outnumbered by about ten to one.
Being surrounded by the bad guys all the time is rather irritating. It will not go away until they all come to their senses and stop by their nearest Apple dealer.

THAT is exactly why I joined the Apple Computer Team, there are 14th overall, you guys are 99th!!! Think about it, if you guys pass apple in the standings, then by all means, I'll join you, but what better way to say apples are the best then to join teh official apple team that is 85 spots AHEAD of you? If everyone in Team MacNN joined Apple Instead...
Apple Computer would then be in 12th place, that much closer to passing, Compaq and Microsoft, among others, and that much closer to the top.

hmm, see i thought the idea of the corporate teams was that they were meant for people who worked for that corporation. i'm an apple dewd all through, but i'm also outside, so i joined a mac club team. in fact, i picked a team that wasn't at the top, and macnn specifically, because of the forums. i'm not just a wu-completed number here. if the apple team all hung around and posted in forums and chatted, you bet i'd be there, nosing around every post. and that's why they don't have a forum. we don't work for apple here. we're just trying to defend her good name, wherever we are in the polls.

I am not saying these tiresome war are cool, and really I don't care much nor participate much in them. But just trying to hold up a mirror for you to maybe reflect the image you are giving out yourself. Yes, we are all just people here. No angels, no devil ... on either side.

monte et al,
That whole Macs vs Wintel argument is stupid anyway. Anybody who is interested enough in computers to be able to participate in such a debate is a fool for not having at least one of each. The MacOS is the reason that people by Macs and that's a good reason for Apple to not give it away or market it separately.
Considering how cheap the computers are, a Wintel Lover could get an iMac for $600 on the used market and a Mac Lover could get an AMD Duron machine for $600. Even better, a used IBM PII-266 machine with MSWindows98 is $200, and a PowerMac 8100 is even less.
Then, you have the best or worst of either or both worlds, depending on how you look at it.

Hm...I have been wrecking my brins here...
But I still don't understand some points here...
Keyser, where was the anti-Apple stuff of that post????
Ohh yeah TN started the page off with some inflammatory words...
but If you read further on it ends out in a quite enligthened debate about
both weaknesses and strengths of both Apples and PC's...
And another thing I do not understand...Are you guys using this little "war" with OCN as a recruiting scam..."llokie here what the evil PC users did!!!"....
Ohh well...be as it will...but keep up the good work team MacNN...You are still kicking butts as you go along...and there is alot of level-headed, good people around here...cheers...

yeah, when i read that thread, there were only 10-15 posts
And you're right tweety, posting that link was a cheap way to try to get someone to join our seti team. You know, after reading this here thread, what is the point of it? It just seems to keep going with no purpose or theme. Oh well, crunch away.
