Hey I just joined last week (lehman) on the 15th. The problem is I have only done 7 units (as of 21st) on a 400 MHz G3 iMac DV SE at an average of 13 hrs. and 45 min. !!! That sucks. I am at school and have a OC3 connection at my disposal. Is there anything I can do?

well there are many tips in the SETI readme that accompanies the downloaded client...

mainly, always run as a screensaver and set it to go to blank screen after one minute (in prefs settings), and you can try to overclock your L2 cache using software solutions made to do this... XLR8's Mach Speed Control is the best, imo

SETI likes to have a 1M L2 cache and your iMac has a 512k L2 so that will keep your times somewhat slower than you might like them to be

and of course, search this forum for more tips as they have been repeatedly posted... also see:

and poke around the SETI homepage for other links to related websites: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

I have an iMac DV SE and I am completing a unit about every 10.5 to 11.25 hours. I used to do a unit every 12-14 hours when I got my DSL connection but after installing and running Webwasher my time went to 11.5 hours (just coincidence?) After version 3.0 came I had a hard time doing a unit until I inreased disk cache from 4190 to 5120. Now my unit processing is 10.5 to 11.25 hours.
