I was reading over the prize money division:
$1000 to winner
$1000 to winner's team
$6000 to non-profit organization of our choice
$2000 to Distributed.net
In case someone from our team HAPPENS to win...we need to decide on a philanthropy to which we want to benefit. Any suggestions?

Do you mean the 6,000 to a charity? distrNet decides that one.
Or the 1,000 to the team? MacNN should keep it to defray expenses.
I mean they give this forum (with a smattering of ads).

I thought we decide the charity for the 6000.
I agree that the 1000 for the team should go to MacNN...<cheesy plug>Because without them, our team would not be possible!</cheesy plug>

I say the $6000 should go to SETI.

Ooooh! Now that is a first-rate idea! That may get my vote.
How about any animal conservation ideas?

From Distributed Net:
"RSA Labs is offering a US$10,000 prize to the group that wins this contest. The distribution of the cash will be as follows:
$1000 to the winner
$1000 to the winner's team - this would go to the winner if he wasn't affiliated with a team
$6000 to a non-profit organization, decided by vote
$2000 to distributed.net for building the network and supplying the code
The vote will be decided on through an extension of the statistics engine, with one vote per block per person."
So, I guess we have a limited input...

Just bumping this thread to make sure everyone knows.
If our team wins, the $1000 goes to MacNN.
