yes! and if SETI's server would've been more... um... responsively updating the stats, we would have seen that we were ahead of overclockerz network some days ago... oh well...

I think the reason that the total WU numbers from the team rankings vs. our team page aren't equal is that when a person joins from another team, their WU are not added to our team total. This is why we're still behind the o/c team.

Well, for inquiring minds, here are the numbers right out of my hany-dandy Excel spreadsheet:
106451 Scarfy
103947 Team MacNN
103919 ET phone FCSM
101933 Overclockers Network
98150 alt.comp.hardware.overclocking
97198 The Internet Infidels
95841 alt.2600
These are as of 09-29-00 02:35 EDT. Something looks wrong with 'alt.comp.hardware.overclocking', either that or they lost a major member.

Pulling the numbers from the team pages and adding them up won't work because it doesn't take a couple of things into account:
1) What if a member with a lot of WU left the team? They won't show on the team page, but their WU are still credited to their former team.
2) What if one of the members of the team was formerly a member of another team? The WU that he/she did for the other team are still credited to the former team. Only the WU that the new member does after coming to MacNN are credited to us.
Hope this clears things up

Now...YES I'm from OCN...but this is just a friendly little chat...So don't have me erased...OK???!
What LittleMac said goes...go look at the FAQ's at setiathome if you don't belive me...so the standings diplayed on the SETI servers are not only OFFICIAL, there also correct...
But if ya don't belive me...that's your problem...ohh btw...we can always ask DMMD nice if he want's to come back to the team...
look here http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/s...eam_84777.html ....to see what you would be up against...not sure he would want too...but to get us ahead we migth convince him...
Ohh and you are asking how this would help us...??? well, those rules don't apply to team creators...see FAQ...

So how does that explain why alt.comp.hadware.overclocking shows on seti that they have 103759, but when totaling it up they only have 98150? If the units stay with the team, then how did they loose 5000 units? (either that or something got pooched when I totaled the numbers)

The same rules apply...When a team member leaves their WU's stay, but their stats no longer show up = invisible WU's (and its so close to halloween)

Sorry for the repeat post but I forgot to introduce myself. RM from from OCN, and don't sweat me, I have friends with macs.
On a second note we officially past 100k this morning
Actually I was personally resposible for 0.005% of that, I joined just as the first shots were fired between OCN and MaccNN. And a little personal pride I joined with 0.0 W/U's
This is a full-on battle with no real losers. Like a saturday football game.

thoughtful remarks from other SETI teams, bereft of any snide attitude or 'i hate macs' junk, are completely welcome here...
on the other hand, swaggering/braggadocio should be saved for your local bar

Experience has shown that what the Berkeley page says just isn't the case. When you leave a team, your work units do go with you, and when you join a team, they go with you as well. The seti servers are wrong because of a processing backlog. Whenever they get around to fixing the stats, they simply add up the total work units of all the members of the team.
