I've got a PM 6100 runnig version 3.03.
it is going to take at least 140 hours to finish its first unit.
all the machine does is run seti and bridge my localtalk and ethernet networks.
does that time sound about right?
66MHz.

Yeah, sounds about right. See here: http://lowendmac.net/seti/team6100.html

Remember that 3.03 is a lot slower than 2.04.

With all that other stuff going on, that sounds about right.

Try the RAM disk and LibMotoSh. Those should shave 20 hours or so off of the time.

I have two 7100/80s running only SETI 3.03 and Peekaboo (set with SETI on high and everything else on low), and they get about 72hr/WU if I allow it to go to completion. I transfer the WU to my iMac (Rev B) to finish up and send off the WU.

LibMotoSh is a math library that *may* run more efficiently than the built-in functions. It works for me, but some Macs don't like it, and in a G4 it is a hinderance. It is available at http://www.mot.com/SPS/PowerPC/suppo...acuser.sit.hqx

This sounds like an obvious question, but I've found that I forget it once in a while. Did you restart your Mac after putting the "Special Technology" extension in the Extensions folder?

Well, my 6100 has reported in.
Now my average has jumped by 12 or so hours per unit.
Oh well, my times look slow, but since I joined last week, I've jumped about a hundred spots.

don't let average time fool you. get a couple machines cranking and it's fun to pass people who's average time is 1/3rd of your own. plus, lots of people don't leave their machines on all the time..

I know.
I've got 4 computers on 24/7, and one or two more that are sporadic.
