my dad wont do seti, he says he will donate cpu time (g4 400) to solving aids or the flu...not looking for aliens.is there any other app that works like seti???


im thinking about installing it on his machine and hidding it...hehe...

There are others, but none for the Mac (yet)... there is one for the flu that will be available before the year is out.

There is also the DC5 effort, but that just deals with breaking encryption, which is even less useful than searching for ET...

realize that if you want seti to run as screensaver it must be loaded as a control panel and that will put the icon in the menubar... a dead giveaway...

sure, seti can be run as an app... you can put the control panel anywhere but it will not run as a screensaver that way, so it will be run as an app and will crawl

You can hack the icon out of the menu bar with resedit. Its pretty cool, my brother did this to my mothers G4, she was complaining about the green "frog" on the menu bar. He hacked the icon and now she is happy.
