I'm havinf some serious problems connecting to SETI. I started last night at about 2AM. I have tried conencting with my Cable modem and DSL and neither work. In fact, i was not able to get to the setiathome.berkeley.edu page untill about 10 minutes ago. They have no mention of an outage.

Anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?

I haven't been able to connect with the T1 at work or my dial-up at home.

Yep, all dead. Thankfully the PCs take a day or two to complete a unit so they will keep working when all our Macs are waiting. PCs rock! ;-) I guess there is a situation where they will keep working when the Macs don't.

Actually, my little eMachine cranks out 9.5 to 10 hour work units and I am a member of Team MacNN, so this outage is killing me (us) right now. I just got to connect to the webpage, but I can't get to the server. thank heavens I am using SUM on my iMac, at least I am making some headway.

I just connected to Seti's work unit server at 2 p.m., so they must be getting back up. Their website is still coming up as forbidden for me tho'

I finally worked my way around the "Forbidden" page. From the SETI tech news page...

October 10, 2000

There was a switch glitch at the Space Sciences Lab last night and we were off the air for a number of hours. This was fixed at 16:30 UT, but things will be slow as the backlog clears for a few more hours.

Looks like contact is still intermittent. I've got work units to submit too. Until it's back up, I'm back to RC5. Looks like it's not necessarily the outage now, but the furiously milling crowds of people either submitting or obtaining work units.

SETI seems to have temporarily lost the "Club Teams" data. Right now they are listing no club teams, but the overall teams list is updated as of 09 Oct at 1747 UT.

We would still be 60th at 103216. The data below is based off of the overall team rankings.

51) Team 3DNow! 117756
52) Nordlichter 117140
53) Brasil 114840
54) alt.games.diablo 114773
55) SETI-Hispano 110212
56) Overclockers Network 108513
57) alt.comp.hardware.overclocking 107113
58) ET phone FCSM 107052
59) Scarfy 106321
60) Team MacNN 103216
61) The Internet Infidels 100976
62) alt.2600 99452
63) Trust_no_One 94050
64) SETI Team Germany 92922
65) Astronomy Now 91651
66) LETS KICK SOME ALIEN BUTT! 89980
67) Team HP3000-L 89302
68) Hardware Upgrade - Seti @ Home 86118
69) JenniCam 85978
70) Team Finland 85788

At the current rates, Hardware Upgrade would catch us in January 2001. We are still outpacing everyone in our rankings area except Overclockers Network and Hardware Upgrade. Forecast of #56 by the end of the month remains in effect.
