Hi,

I'm relatively new to SETI@home. I have an old Powerbook 540c with an upgrade to PowerPC (601). Yes, its real slow, but it still works just fine. I put it to work full time on SETI and its crunching away. Its about 50% done with a unit, but its been 400 hrs!. So, how long will SETI wait to receive results back before the reassign the unit to be processed by someone else?

Hi Bill,
Welcome Aboard!!!
I believe it is indefinitely... once the work unit is assigned, it is coded to your account... keep crunching!

It is suspected that units are now issued to at least two people anyway. This is because of the large number of people crunching, and persistent problems with cheaters. Results for the same work unit are compared, they should be either identical or very nearly identical.

I suspect they would wait a couple of weeks before sending it out to a 3rd person, however you will be credited for the unit even if you returned the results a couple of months later.
