As some of you have noticed, I'm now mod of this forum, which, in my mind, means forum and team advocate.
To that end, I'm making requests for changes, and I need everyone's input.
So, my question to you is, what would you like to see changed?
My want list:
change the forum to distributed computing / team macnn teams page
update the website
did I mention update the website
Oh, I did create a F@H team this morning.

Don't know how much you-all have in the way of resources, but a seperate page for RC5 with a couple links to the clieant download page, and the team stats page would be cool. It wouldn't have to be updated very often at all, and if there was a link to it on the main page, like at MacEvangeList, we'd surely draw some more members in. Team Evangelista has over 1000 members, I think, and are rated #6 overall.
I know this is web-page and not forum stuff, but it's a thought.
I'll vote for renaming the forum, ala your suggestion.

A forum name of "Distributed Computing / blah de blah" does not really draw people. We have so many Forums now, a catchier name would be nice. We need lots more people to push back all those other evil teams.
"Team MacNN vs the bad guys"
or
"Team MacNN - Fighting for a better world"
The Team.MacNN.com address is suitably neutral, but we need breakout pages for each project. Reserve the main page for summaries, news, etc. A few quick links for each project would be OK though. Don't want to clutter up the front page too much.
Oh, and quit dogging it on SETI, I expect to see the Team Advocate over 1,000.
btw: I have not posted any more SETI news because Berkeley is still working on the team stats stuff.

Personally I think this forum and a splash page should be called Team MacNN, even the link on the frontpage in the left navbar of Macnn. This page should include the current MacNN Teams in progress, what these teams represent, how to join them and current statistics of each team. Since there is only 2 teams in progress now, I don't see the need to break that first page down any more.
The forums should be reserved for tips and tricks, much like they are now, but just change the name. I don't think there is the need to have seperate forums for each team, there just doesn't seem to be the need for it (or at least from my standpoint anyway), but this does seem to be more like the Team Lounge or Locker Room
These are just my opinions

I like the new name of the forum.
keys are too hard on this k/b...
I noticed Berkeley has changed the stats server from "setiathome" to "iosef". The rest of the URL is the same. Some stats are on both servers, but I think that means they are migrating to "iosef".
There's not enough activity here to warrant separate fora for each project.
Make the "SETI@MacNN" page, "Team MacNN" and include info, software/links for all 3 projects.
Maybe links to the team pages at the top of the forum page.

I also like the new name of the forum. I wish it was listed at the bottom of the page along with the other forum links. I really don't see a reason to try and keep this forum hidden. We already get zero press. People should have every opportunity to browse their way in.

I've added Distributed Computing to the links at the bottom. Sorry about that ... I didn't even realize it wasn't listed!

/me bows. I thank you, sir.
Yeah, I wish there was a way to encourage more people to get involved with distributed computing. Not just for the team (though of course that's nice), but because it's such an easy way to contribute to scientific research. This is especially true of the Folding@Home study. If F@H had an OS9 client, I would bid Seti and RC5 a fond farewell and crunch F@H 24/7. That way every day, no matter how much time I wasted trying to carve peaches into the logos of my favorite Mac game publishers, I still did something good that day. That's right, it's all about me and how I feel. The challenge isn't to make people see that distributed computing is useful, but to shame them into feeling that they have to be a part of it in order to be respected. Sure you schooled me in UT, but how many WUs did you crunch today? Exactly.
Just my two cents.

CRAP!!!
I was at the apple store yesterday, and I forgot to put RC5 on the comps
Oh well, it was cool, and I stumped the geniuses many times, but they wouldn't use the phone.
Ok, back to more useful stuff.
I think there is a bug in the F@H client, and therefor my data wasn't sent, and the team may not have been created.
More stuff.
Any other things?
I'll be home in 9 days, but I should be able to get online every here and there, so I can respond.
I'll send a more organized listing of wishes to the admins as we know what we want.
