hey all, I got some comps sitting idly by most all of the day in need of something to do, so I want to join team Macnn in this whole thing. I just need clarification on how to make sure my packets get added to the team total.

well I got a dual 450, 400 pismo, 500 pismo, and 333 iMac. Hope this helps move the mac up in the ranks!

Well, I'm sure that you have an email address. Go ahead and download the client, and install it on your computer(s). Once you install the client, you'll need to input some information into it. In the options menu that comes up the first time you open thr program, here is what you'll want to change.

choose option 1, and then 1 on the next menu - this is where you add your email address.

go back to the main menu, and choose option 2, and then option 9 - use this to set all others to 0, to only calculate RC5 (ir - CSC=0,OGR=0,RC5).

There may be some other options you might wish to make, concerning how many packets you receive at a time, which should be based on your connection to the internet on your comps. If you have a slow connection, or they are never really connected, you may want to have the client download many packets, instead of the normal few.

Anyways, just go ahead and start crunching. Then, on the next day (usually like 10am-12pm) after midnight, go to http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64/ and there you can input your email address, and the hit search. It will bring you to your information, and at the bottom of the page you will find a link for your password to be emailed to you. Click it.

Then, you will go to http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64/...team=865184860 and right below the table of numbers and team, you will find a link that says that you want to join this team. Click that link, and then fill in your info and password. You only need to do this once, not on all your computers (the password stuff that is, you need to do the other stuff with all the client downloads). Once you make your email address a part of our team, then all of your computers will be sending their information in under Team MacNN which will ROCK!!

I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE ANOTHER RC5 CRUNCHER!!!

By way of added clarification, you can use the same email address with all of your machines. No need to worry about creating separate id's or anything. You do have to *return* units before you can show up in the system the next day, but you only need to return units from one machine. And don't be too surprised if it takes an extra day or two to show up in the system. It'll keep accumulating your numbers in the meantime. All this stuff will make a lot more sense with the client in front of you, too.

Welcome aboard!!!

I am wondering how do I find out the detailed info on the members of the team? I can get the team results, but nothing more...

thanks, I didn't even notice that those were links!

Well, still fine tuning the system and putting it on my main system. I am worried that it appears I got some OGR packets even though I set it to OGR:0, I dont know what is up with that.

Does anyone know if they will make it MP aware? My second CPU is just itchen for action!

Try OGR=0, not OGR:0.

Also, it is MP aware.

Yes, I'm pretty positive it's MP aware, and that it really only shows the packets being crunches and such for one processor, so you can pretty much multiply what you see in the client by two. Am I right on that? Either way, I do know it's MP aware, which rocks, now only if I could get my hands on a dual GHz G4.....guess i'll only have to wait another few weeks..

well its' pretty cool, like now iTunes is running 90% cause I'm ripping a cd, and dnetc is still holding 60% with everything else running, so its' all cool. Hey, when you add up my two CPU's you almost get a Ghz

I run RC5 on a Dual 550 Mystic and it runs two crunchers. "A" is on the primary processor and it runs at about 90-95% of "B", when nothing but it and the finder are running in the foreground. Anything that taxes the prime processor really cuts into the time for "A but doesn't affect "B". MP aware apps like PhotoShop and SoundJam kill both "A" & "B". Each cruncher is Alti-Vec aware but not MP, but the whole "client" is.
RC5 is a very good indicator of MP usage by apps.

btw, welcome aboard juanvaldez..

what about this? When I launch the application I get this message.

[Jul 02 21:11:31 UTC] Mac OS X does not support SMP or
does not support processor count detection.
A single processor machine is assumed.

Try manually setting 2 processors in the RC5 setup.
