Is there anyone here who would be willing to maintain the team.macnn.com website? It would involve writing the code for the page. If so, let me know by either posting here or emailing me.
We really need the site updated, and I can't do it (don't know how )
Thx,
Scott

I might be able to do it....just need to know what needs to be done, that way I can determine if I have the time.

I might also be able to do it. However, someone volunteered in the past, and Misha replied that a basic HTML editor would not be enough for the Team page. Possibly because of our neat live stats.
It was implied that you need a serious web design application, which I do not have.

I don't believe that we have the live stats anymore, we now just link to the SETI page for them.
Even if you can do the html stuff, it would be a big help.
If you both want to work together, I guess that can work too.
We need to do a major rewrite, adding RC5 and F@H to our page, and updating the SETI stuff.

I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Send me a private message or an email and we'll see what we can do.
|
|
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

I have GoLive 5 and some other cool stuff, and would be more than happy to help out, but it looks like you guys have it under control as it is. IM or PM me if you still need some help.

Ok all, please post your qualifications.
Job interview time.
Honestly though, if the admins don't have a problem with it (I haven't even asked em about this ) then you all can split it or something.
I'll ask the admins how we would update the page and then get back to you all.

I go to Georgia Tech, so I don't have the most of time, but I definitely fool around on mty computer till the late hours doing usually nothing, so I'm sure I could help out somewhat.
If you others out there have a strong desire to do it, then you should obviously receive the most/best work to do.

I think that it's a good idea to get some of us together to plan out what we want the team.macnn.com site to contain, look like, etc. I do believe that there only needs to be one or two people who actually work the site, i.e. code it and maintain it. That way, we don't have problems with people changing something and messing up someone else's plans for the site. You know the saying "too many cooks in the kitchen..." Anyway, I'm more than willing to help with the initial planning and idea stage. I might be willing to do some of the layout and site building as well, depending on its complexity. I'm good with Dreamweaver, but I'm certainly no Flash/graphics expert. Let me know what you think...

Note: This all assumes approval.
Here is my idea.
We have our main page, which has links to each project we do, and links to the forum. It would also tell when the page was updated, and have general team news. One person would do this page.
Then, we would have each team page, one for SETI, one for RC5, and one for F@H. These pages would contain all info relevant to that specific project, ie. links to the program, links to 3rd party apps, stats, and whatever else we thought of. 3 people, one for each page, could manage these.
That is all I've thought of, any other ideas, suggestions, plans?

Sounds about right. For the SETI page, it would be nice to have a few other pages linked. We already have the SETI FAQ which we should keep. It would be nice to add an optimization page, since this information is asked for so often.
The RC5 & F@H pages will probably want FAQ and Optization subpages of their own as well.

Ok, we have approval, so start your coding, err, planning.
Who wants to do what?
I don't know HTML, so I'm only good for planning.
All code needs to go to me for consolidation and approval, and then I send it to Monish. But you can do what you want to a point. Lets just get a basic redesign up, then do fancy stuff once we have a decent working page.
All planning and discussion will be done here. So let me know.
I'm also sending news to the main page, although they didn't follow my instructions to link discussion to this forum.

I'm still in Scott. I was away from school for a few days so I could hang with some friends for the 4th. I'm working on a few things right now. Hopefully, by this weekend I'll post something for commentary. If anyone here has something specific they would like to see, please post it or send my a message and I'll do my best to include it.

I'm still alive too, but a little preoccupied in the real world for the next few days. I'll be happy to write up a SETI optimization subpage, maybe even take a shot at the main SETI page. In a few days, that is. If someone can get to it faster, no hard feelings.
At least, as long as they don't just make it say "closed - go over to Team MacNN RC5 right away"

Ok, so I'm a bit impatient. I guess it is because I can't do it myself.
Have fun.

I'm still in, and willing to help, however, my HD just died yesterday (see post in PowerBook forum) so I'm sort of cripled right now. However, when I'm back on my feet again (soon I hope) then I'll be able to do whatever needs to be done. thanks..

So, did anyone have any luck over the weekend?
Email me if you have questions or anything.
I'd like to get a site up before MacWorld, if possible.
