Team MacNN will be more then happy to have you join

I've got an Athlon 900, G3-400, and PM8500-150.
They take 7.3 hrs, 15-20 hrs, and about 48 hrs per unit.

My average is 25 hrs per unit and headed down. SETI just didn't run too well on my two 66MHz machines.

15-17 hrs on a PM8500/G3-454/240MB
38-40 hrs on a PM7500/604e-233/96MB
S@H times were insultingly low(11-13hrs) on Dual 550 G4, it runs RC5 now.
G4 was averaging 4.5 hrs on S@H v 2.04

How come the PIII is so slow in comparison to the G4 other than the apparent superiority of the PowerPC architecture.

That P3/600 should be as fast (at least) as your G4/533 in SETI. Lose that crappy 'screensaver' client and try the commandline client.
