Well I've tried to run the classic app and it fails every time, so I decided to try and run the terminal app. I followed the Unix directions on the distributed page and it fails to run.

I used the following command from the local directory: (Remove quotations)
"./ dnetc -quiet"

I even enabled root and tried to run it as root, or using sudo. It told me I did not have adequate permissions to run the application. Seems odd to me that root would not have adequate permissions to run the client. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I also found it interesting to note that dnetc is listed as a document in the finder. Appreciate any insight people can offer. Also how do I set OSX up to start the dnetc client on startup once I get this problem resolved... Thanks fir the the help in advance

it is probably not a 'permission' problem, but rather a file mode problem. I'd bet that the executable bit is not set. To do this (make sure you are in the dnetc directory:

% chmod 755 dnetc

Then you should be able to do:

% ./dnetc -quiet

Actually, I just noticed something... is there a space between the "./" and the "dnetc" in the command above? Casue if there is, you'll get the error you are reporting. Make sure there is no space (or any other characters) between the two, and you should be good.

If that doesn't work, I have full instructions on how to install it. They haven't been edited yet, and don't have links, but other then that, they are complete.

The instructions also tell you how to make it run at bootup.

So just let me know if you need the instructions.

Thanks guys. I got the same info from our Unix guys here at work. I'll give the chmod a shot, and lose the space (yes there was one). I did notice the logon control panel and the option to start scripts in there. I suppose I could look into putting something together in AppleScript. We'll see. BTW what's the team number? I'm currently in Team Evangelista from when Guy was doing his thing.

I've already got a script that runs rc5 at bootup.
It is in my iDisk.
user name: sjaffa
Email me at sjaffa@mac.com and I'll give you the instructions to make it run.

Team number? Just search for "team macnn" and select our team, they click the 'i want to join this team' link at the bottom of the page.

Well, I got it working. It was the space. I'm not surprised. I'll go and pick up that script in a moment. Just so happy to be able to do almost everything OSX.
