The two of us are going to be racing in RC5.
Probably to 750,000 blocks.

Rules of the race:
1. No putting the program onto comps you don't have permission to (meaning computer labs, etc)
2. I think that is all

That definitely works for me....It's definitely going to be tough man..I'm not sure I can keep all these computers up and running all the time..but we'll give it a shot...

The stats were obviously screwed up..so the numbers might not accurately reflect our crunching on those respective days..but...here's the last two days...

9-Sept-2001
#1 - GetSome - 9,970
#2 - Scott - 9,968

10-Sept-2001
#1 - GetSome - 9,011
#2 - Scott - 8,685

So...how's it feel to be #2 after all that talk of yours??

Now, maybe I shouldn't be speaking..because I'm not sure if I can keep up the pace I'm at right now..but I'll definitely be trying.

Also, if anyone else maybe wants to jump in on this in any way...maybe not to 750k...but rather in individual blocks crunched by day...go ahead...we need to do better and better as a team..and hopefully this will spark more interest...

I'm also really happy that the past three days we were something like 88, 95, and 100 for the respective days. I think that's amazing that we have broken into the top 100 for the day..and now I think that we need to try and stay there everyday...and try to see if we can get into the top 50 somehow...how great would that be...who knows..maybe then we'd have a chance at winning the $$$$$$...

What comps do you have?
Why can't you keep em going?
I'd put more power on RC5, but as you've noticed from the other post, SETI needs help to.

Edit: did 9500 blocks the 11th.

Racing would be great. The four of us can race to see who can double their total the fastest, so we would need to set a definate start date. Also to keep track of all of us, just add all four of us to your friends list and take and post pictures in a topic each day. Looking forward to the race.

Racing to double won't work, because our totals are so different.

I'm having some trouble though, I just lost a SETI comp (kid wanted it off) so I may have to retask another comp to SETI.

I'll see what I can do about ramping up a bit more, maybe to 20,000 blocks

For today

True, a race to double might not be the best idea, since our totals and speeds are so different. Also mine and Doc's speed vary greatly; darn 56K dail up! So what we should do is have two separate but equall races. Again I'll post a pic when I pass Doc.

I need one of those dual 800's if I want to stay ahead of you. Should take you a week to pass me at your current rate. I will not go down easily though .

Computers:

1. G4/466 running OS 10.0.4
2. Athlon 1 GHz running 98 SE
3. P3 700 running 98 SE

Man, I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to continue against Scott. And, I can't think of any other computer that I could have running for me..so...but I'm going to try my best.

I really like everyone really getting into this...but..we still need more people overall...we now just have like 12 people who crunch at least 2k units a piece...that's great..and we've been in the top 100 for the day for like the past week I think, but more members would definitely help out as well. Could you imagine if we had around 100 members crunching for us each day!!!!!

Recruitment will happen. Don't worry.
Right now I'm busy recruiting for the SETI team because that is where the power is desperately needed. But the RC5 team is not forgotten.
I'm hoping to get up to full power in RC5 soon. I just need someone to "decrash" (reboot and properly cool) a computer that has been crashed for the last week or so.
I did a little over 10,000 blocks yesterday, but today isn't looking too good so far. Only 1500 blocks so far today. Not good.

Don't worry, I won't let you pass me. I'm still ramping up.
But I have to put power on SETI too.

I used to do SETI...but...I stopped a while back when they changed the client, and it ran sooo slow. I remember my times in the day were around 5 hours per WU...not sure what times are like anymore in SETI..or if WUs are the same size or not. I just remember that when I started up SETI once more at least 6 months ago it was taking me like 20 hours to finish the WU..so..I dumped it. If I join the SETI team, will my previous WUs that I completed, will they be included with the MacNN team's?

I'm almost positive that you have more firepower than me in terms of RC5...but I'm going to be trying to think of some way to boost my production...I'm still in the procees of convincing to get it on one computer..but my friend is a tool..and needs to do some crap first to his systerm....anyways....it will definitely be a battle. Hopefully seeing everyone race will get others pumped up...and maybe we'll see their participation rise both in the forums, and on the RC5 playing field.

Yes, join the team, even if you aren't crunching anymore.
The total will be added to our total.
We need it all.
Don't worry.
I'll find or build more comps.

I arrived at college to day, and my computer is running 24/7. So watch my stats climb. I also left my 350 G4 running 24/7 at home, and it will most likely update once a day.

Bring It On!!

Once the rest of my roomates arrive ( I moved in 2 days early) I'm gonna ask them all to run RC5 in my name. Your days are numbered.
