The RC5 for X just doesn't seem to be used effectively on my DP 800. I've received files from you guys but to no avail. In 9.2.1 I get 7.7 Mkeys per processor, while in X it's less than half that. I'm not too happy about the processor use going to waste like that. Surely they have to release an update that works decently with the new processors. I've checked top and it is maxing out the processors so the number should be better. It's just the damn core isn't as effective as the one in OS 9...

Let me know what your setup is like. With my Dual 800, the most I have ever gotten is 14.02 mKeys/sec. I'd love to get 7.7mKeys with each processor. Some weird stuff going on today. My production has slacked way off. I just glanced at my average and it says 9.52mKeys/sec. That sucks. I have no idea what has caused this sudden slow down. Any ideas?

Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Are you using my startup script to launch rc5 at bootup?
If so, then when you run the benchmark, it will show you half speed, because another instance of rc5 is already running.

Never did manage to get the startup script to run... Gave up on that... I'm sure it isn't running due to the fact that nothing is listed in top. I think I'm getting 7.xMkeys... Might be wrong... I know that I have runs as high as 14.5 Mkeys... Not sure how my machine managed it... Might depend on the work packet. Only reason I can think of. I haven't really trimmed down my extensions at all...

Well, I did regain some of the speed. I'm now up to 13.25Mkeys/sec. Still not great but it beats the heck out of 9Mkeys/sec. I'll try to do some more tweaking to see what has caused some of the slowdown. Fun for me...

do a:
top -u
and see what is sucking down your processor(s).
I noticed that Classic or under top -u, TruBlueEv, i think that's what it is, uses quite a bit of processor power.
It has to be going somewhere, and that will show you.
Report back.

It's not a question of the processor power not being used by dnetc. Trust me... Dnetc is running about 180-190% but getting measly results in the terminal app... TruBlue is using about 10-12%... I just installed 5g64 and I'm getting better results in the dnetc running in classic. It's running about 10-11Mkeys... Not great, but better than the nothing that the terminal app is kicking up... It's almost like the efficient core that the classic app is using was never ported to X... Might have something to do with the way the processor time is shared... But surely it could do better than it is currently...
Oh well... I'll continue to use the classic app in X, but it slows down some of my classic apps drastically... Doesn't play nice... Non nice playing apps get shut down... Can't stand my games being affected... One of the main reasons I'm wanting a native version that performs well...
