Hi,
I am a RC5 entusiast (putting my 466 iBook's 350 units a day towarads the fight agains phlump). I have noticed that about ever 24 hours, the ibook will not respond after running rc5 alone for a while. I have the latest client, and am running OS9.2.1. I set the 'book to turn off its screen and to spin down the hard drive. To prevent wear on the HD, I use a RAM disk to store all the RC5 paraphenelia. The only time that I have witnessed a crash was when it was connecting to the RC5 server. Does anyone have any ideas? I am aware about temperature, so usually run the processor at 366 Mhz, to prevent overheating.
Any ideas?
David.
By the way, I think that I have recruited a friend's 1.4 Ghz athlon for Team Macnn from the W/E!

I've run dnetc on my iBook 600Mhz/OS9.2.1 for over 48hrs at a time without any problem. This was an older version (462) of the client. I left it running on the power adapter, at the higher cpu speed setting. The internet connection was via Airport using the modem on the ABS (old version, updated with Airport 2.0), which seems quite reliable. It was giving about 1.8Mkeys/sec.
I was a bit concerned about the temperature. Gauge Pro showed 35degC which may not seem a lot, but when idle, the temp reads 11degC, and at startup from cold in 20degC ambient, it shows 'error converting temperature' or 0degC, so I reckon that dnetc pushes the temp to about 55degC. I directed air from a 12V (30mm) cooling fan onto the slots by the hinge, and this brought the temperature reading down to 19degC
Currently, I'm only running dnetc on my G3B/W which has a G4/450 Newertech cpu. This is giving about 3.7Mkeys/sec.

Laptops and any DC client don't go together the best. You can set the dnet client to pause if your temp gets too high. I'm working on testing that feature on my Tibook.
What I do is when my Ti goes unstable, I turn off the client and let it cool down.
