I know this is for a iBook, but I was wondering if anybody with a FP iMac could try it. I'm trying to decide which mac to get and this could be the deciding factor (even if it's only in OS9)

Go to the control strip and turn off video mirroring. Try opening the Monitors control panel (with the VGA adaptor and an external monitor attached). You should see two screens that are overlapped. Drag one of them off to the side of the other. Ta-da! You should have two monitors side-by-side. This should work. It works for my PowerMac G4 QuickSilver - I have a 15" TFT and a 17" hooked up.

A friend of mine has a TFT iMac - I'll email him and tell him to try it.
