I have an iBook/700 and it, like most others in the range, suffers from excessive heat from the HD area (especially noticable under 10.2).

Has anyone thought of ways to provide extra cooling for the iBooks? I there isn't a load of space in there...

Anyone looked into this?

I've got a 700 too, and I also notice the heat. By the feel of it, the fan blows air out the back. Which means, that it should take in air from the vents near the hard drive. It seems however that most of the air is taken from the ports. So I'm wondering if one of those port protectors might help force the in-take to come from the hard drive vents.

Of course, there must be air coming in from the keyboard, and the cdrom. Though the only place I really feel it is the ports, and maybe it should be that way... just a thought

I spent a few hours yesterday looking for cooling solutions that I could haxor into the iBook. Basically tiny, DC fans that would feed off of the internal PS.

What I found wasn't that great. The smallest I found was an 18mmx18mm fan.

If we could somehow mount a small fan beside the drive we'd be golden.
