I'm trying to build a little PC. I feel ashamed, as I should. Nevertheless, I am trying to build it into a Centris 610 case (same as PowerMac 6100, for the most part). The powersupply is an 86Watt. This is going to be a slow, basic PC, so that should be plenty, but is there a way to connect it to a PC motherboard?

Or, I know generally PC powersupplies are huge, does anyone make 100 Watt or so ones that are much smaller form factor? And preferably dirt cheap too?

you want to buy a 1U ATX power supply. They sell these in the normal 300watt range, and they're about the same size as the Centris supply, and will mount up with little modification.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

I'm having a hell of a time finding a power supply. It needs to be no more than 2.5 inches tall. however I don't need 300 watts, 100 would be enough, and I don't wanna spend much money at all, used on ebay would be great. But I just can't seem to find one of these bizznatches?

Does the PC need an AT or ATX power supply? If there is a single socket on the motherboard, it's ATX. If there's a row of pins, then it's AT, and it would be easy to make it work with the Centris supply.

All you need is a to measure the output on the Centris P/S with a multimeter, and check the voltages against the AT pinout. Then, match voltage to voltage. It's probably gonna take a little splicing.

--------------- AT power supply ---------------
P8-1 +5V SENSE/RETURN (POWER OK)
P8-2 +5V
P8-3 +12V
P8-4 -12V
P8-5 GND
P8-6 GND

P9-1 GND
P9-2 GND
P9-3 -5V
P9-4 +5V
P9-5 +5V
P9-6 +5V

Does anyone know where I can get a map of the Centris power supply? Then I can be doubly sure? ALso, what is that first one, P8-1? Don't get it. Also, can anyone verify that map itomato posted. Not that I don't trust him or anything, but I'm going to be using that and i'd hate to electrocute myself or fry my board due to a type or something.

OK screw my last post....
Anyway I tested and this is what I came up with on the Centris power supply...

Its close. Now its been a while since I've taken a physics class. How exactly do I connect these two? Feel free to copy my image and draw right on top of it.
