Hi folks,
I'm very new to Macs. I have an IBM Thinkpad T23 whose 30GB HDD I upgraded to a 60GB 5400RPM unit.
I'm now trying to upgrade my 600Mhz iBook's 15GB HDD with the 30GB from the T23. The 30GB HDD was running dual boot Win2K Pro and had a storage partition - all NTFS.
The problem isn't physically replacing the iBook's HDD - I've already done that. The problem is getting OS X onto the 30GB HDD. I assume this is because NTFS is unrecognizable to the OS X setup app.
I start the iBook holding down the C key and the OS X setup starts, but it doesn't give me any destination options.
Can anyone help me out with this?

choose "open Disk Utility" from the 'File' menu.
This will allow you to reformat the drive to HFS+ which is the best option for general use, and it will allow you to creat partitions if you like.

That's not even available as an option. I'm attempting to install OS 9 or OS 10 on the hard drive.

boot your computer from the OS 9 or OS X CD and then erase the drive. under OS 9, use drive setup... or disk utility under OS X,.
also, holding down the C key during startup will force the machine to boot from the optical drive. if you want a list of the available boot volumes, hold down the option key during startup. this will only work how you want it once you've installed the operating system.
boot from the CD, erase the drive, and install OS X on to it. if the drive doesn't show up and can't be erased, you may have installed it improperly or have hardware problems.

That's exactly the case: The drive actually doesn't show up...
In any case, I read up a little on this online and found out how to use the Disk Utility. I found it on the OS 9 & 10 CDs and used it to convert the drive into the desired format. It works perfectly now.
Thanks for the help...
