I'm sure I've seen it done before, so yeah. I'd take the case apart and do some masking around sensitive areas (like cooling vents). I'd say go for it .

I did that to an old PM6100.
Cover the parts you want to keep with tape, though.
I used a brush for the front of it, and left the back alone.
